What are Course Reserves?

The Course Reserves shelf, found on the first floor of the library, has books that were pre-selected by your professors for use in your course. They can only be checked out for three hours at a time (with the option to renew twice, for a total of nine hours) to ensure all students have fair and equitable access to them. These often prohibitively expensive textbooks and other books are a valuable resource to you and we encourage you to make use of these when completing your class assignments. The books can be found on this shelf seen below:

As you can see, students taking Mech Solids (ENGR 2320) have quick access to these and other books from this shelf.

There is a checkout-sheet on top of the shelf we ask you to write your name on, as well as the date and time you grabbed a book, so others can know to find you in case you forget to return a book.

If the book you are looking for is not on the cart but you need it urgently, please ask a librarian for help. Often, the library can provide ebook copies of certain books or can make other arrangements to make materials accessible to you more quickly.

The Curriculum Cart

The curriculum cart is the green cart that sits next to the Course Reserves on the first floor. It contains books that are frequently placed on reserve by faculty members for courses but are not currently on reserve. These books are great if you are curious about what textbooks have been used in other classes or are looking for a deeper dive into a subject you're interested in.
